The Black Hybrid chickens are an Australorp cross known for being excellent layers. These birds differ from pure Australorps in several ways: they are medium-sized, have some red feathering around the neck, and feature red eyes instead of black.
While most pure Australorps are kept primarily for showing and have seen a decline in egg production, these hybrids can lay approximately 290 eggs per year.
