Silver Laced Polish Day Old Chicks
The bearded Silver Laced Polish chicken is a heritage breed, known for its striking appearance and fascinating history, as it is believed to have originated in the Netherlands and made its way to England through Poland. The Silver Laced Polish chicken has been admired and bred for centuries, with historical references dating back to the sixteenth century. Recognized for their unique beauty, several Polish varieties have earned a spot in the American Standard of Perfection between 1874 and 1996.
Silver Laced Polish Chickens
The Silver Laced Polish chicken is often regarded as the showstopper among “Poland Fowls.” Their stunning silvery-white feathers, each outlined with a precise, black lace, create a dazzling, eye-catching pattern. Topping off their appearance is a signature full crest of feathers that grow from a knob on their skull, adding a distinct look to their appearance. They also have large nostrils, which contribute to their unique profile. While they are beloved as show and exhibition birds, they’re also delightful additions to any backyard flock. Though not prolific layers, these chickens do produce small white eggs and are not broody.
